Privacy Policy

Effective 4 October 2026 · updated 12 October 2026 (chart share links)

Your chart is computed in your own browser. We keep only what you choose to save, we do not sell anything, and there are no advertising trackers. This page lists everything that leaves your device and why.

Who we are

Astrobserve (astrobserve.vercel.app) is run by Purwaj Tiwari, an individual in India (“we”, “us”). For anything on this page, write to purwaj.tiwari@gmail.com. That address is also our grievance contact under India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023.

What we collect and why

Birth details you enter

A name for the chart, date, time and place of birth, and the gender option. Planet positions, dashas, transits and strengths are calculated in your browser; the date and time of birth are not sent to us to do that.

Your account

Signing in is with Google, through Supabase. We receive your name, email address, profile picture and an account ID from Google. We use them to sign you in, to keep your saved charts with your account and to show who is signed in. We do not receive your Google password or access to anything else in your Google account.

Saved charts

Usage events

To learn which parts of the app are used, we record events such as “chart generated”, “tab opened”, “profile saved” or “calendar downloaded”, with a few details about the event itself (for example which tab, or how many calendar entries). Each event carries a random ID for your browser tab, a random ID kept in your browser so we can tell a returning visit from a new one, and, if you are signed in, your account ID. The browser ID is made on your device, is not linked to your name, and is removed if you clear the site’s data. Events never include birth details or names.

When a visit begins we also note where it came from: the name of the website that linked to us (not the page), any campaign tags in the link (such as utm_source), whether you are on a phone, tablet or computer, and whether this browser has visited before. When you sign in we note that it happened and whether the account is new.

Error reports

When something in the app fails in your browser, it sends us a short report so we can fix it: the error message, where in our code it happened, which tab was open, and your browser’s name and version. Quoted text, dates and times are removed from the message first, so a report does not carry a place, date or time of birth. Reports are stored with the usage events and kept as long.

Feedback

If you send feedback from Help, we store the topic, your message and, if you are signed in, your account ID. Please do not put birth details in a message unless you want us to look at a chart.

Calendar share links

If you create a share link for a transit or dasha calendar, we store that calendar for 90 days. Anyone who has the link can open it. It contains the dates and descriptions in the calendar and its title, which can include the name you gave the chart. It does not contain the birth date, time or place.

Chart share links

If you share a chart, the link contains that chart’s name, birth date, time and place, and the place’s coordinates. Anyone who has the link can see these details and the chart. We do not store the link or its details: they sit in the part of the address after “#”, which your browser never sends to our servers, so they do not reach our logs or our usage events. Someone who opens the link sees the chart without it being saved; it is added to their charts only if they choose “Save to my kundalis”. Share a link only with people you want to see those birth details.

Server logs

Our hosting and database providers record technical details of each request, such as IP address, time and browser type, to run and protect the service. We do not use them to identify you.

Cookies and browser storage

We set no advertising or tracking cookies. The app uses your browser’s storage for your sign-in session, charts saved while signed out, the last places you looked up, the random browser ID described under Usage events, and settings such as your preferred view. Clearing your browser’s site data removes them.

Other people’s birth details

Matching and saved charts often involve someone else’s birth details. Please enter or save them only with that person’s permission.

How long we keep it

Your choices and rights

If you are not satisfied with our answer, you may complain to the Data Protection Board of India.

Age

Astrobserve is for people aged 18 and over.

Security

Data travels over HTTPS. Saved charts are readable only by the account that saved them; the database denies every other account. No system is perfectly secure, and we will tell affected users promptly if a breach affects their data.

Changes

If we change this policy we will update the date above, and tell signed-in users in the app if the change is significant.
